Syteria / CPSD / FUS - 14 March 2020 - Bradford Tapestry

Due to the current circumstances that we are all having to become use to this could be our last live review for a while.
My first visit to the new Bradford Tapestry venue, friendly staff and a good vibe about the place.
First up tonight were FUS with a very interesting live set, the three piece band certainly kept us all entertained during a very different musical experience.

Next up were CPSD, with a more conventional alternative rock sound. An enjoyable set and as I understand it they are from the Leeds area, so one to keep an eye on.

Headlines Syteria were promoting their latest CD Reflection. The opening part of the part of the featured seven songs from this excellent CD. Highlights being the opening track Guilty, Back Off and Plastic Fantastic, which was wonderfully interpreted by vocalist Julia Calvo, a great performance. This was the first time I had seen the band with new bass player Steph Dawson who is an excellent fit in to band. To my ears complementing the drumming of Pablo Calvo to add that bit more of a hard rock edge to the sound.

The second half of the set was made up of songs from the previous CD Rant-o-Bot. This included a sing along with Hypocrite. There was also a cover of The Ramones classic Rockaway Beach. The Final track of the main set was Make Some Noise which Jackie Chambers introduced with the really catchy opening rift. Full audience participation on this one.

Of course the crowd wanted more and they were rewarded with Get a life and Halloween, complete with blood curdling scream.

Once things get back to normal please go and check out Syteria live, you won’t be disappointed. In the meantime checkout their website which some great merchandise and two great CDs to purchase.
