REO Speedwagon - Indigo O2 London 10th June 2008

Another new venue this the Indigo 02 in Greenwich. It took 1hr 45 mins to do the last 15 miles..ouch! The great white elephant the Millenium Dome has been turned into something worthwhile at last! In the middle is a 20,000 seater venue around the outside is 1km of bars, an 11 screen Vue cinema, an area for exhibitions currently Tutankhamun and the Indigo which is a 2,350 seat venue. Parking was a £5 all day in car park 4 or £25 anywhere else!! Stunning views across to Canary Wharf.

So in we go to a very modern, quite narrow, room.S eats with a bar to the back and an upstairs which was quite steep. Queensryche next week is standing. In fact we bought standing tickets at £20 but it was changed to seats at £30 and they didn't ask for any more cash !

Support was from the Poppettes (Who you ask?) An electro jive doowop band with 3 leadsinging girls in polka dot dresses. At an holiday park or wedding but this was a rock gig!!!! They could all sing and the 4 piece guys that backed them could all play but...lots of choruses, dancing and hand movements...Stunned.

REO came on and were hit by sound problems although out front it sounded pretty good but Kev Cronin was a bit miffed by it. It was basically the same set as last year with a new song replaced with "Poor Man's Son" from 35 years ago. All the hits were played with the live staples of "Back on the Road Again" ,"Roll with the Changes" and "Ridin the Storm Out". All very heavy - in fact I think some of the oldies who had come for the hits were a little stunned at the stunning amount of sound coming from the stage. Dave Amato(geetar)and Bryan Hitt(drums) deserve a special mention for top playing. After only an hour and 25 off they went. For some reason "157 Riverside Ave" was dropped so they lose a point for that. Kev's teeth still looked to big for his face and he didn't come out to sign autographs although plectrums were had by all.
2 hour journey home through Central London past Tower Bridge,Eye and Big Ben.
