Halestorm Islington Academy 28-9-12

Due to the fantastic London traffic and a fire alarm at the venue as I arrived I missed the first support act Zico Chain and only saw 3 and a half songs from Heaven’s Basement too.
What I saw was a confident band with some good songs.
Big riffs and choruses and when their first cd “Filthy Empire”is released in January they should be one to watch.

No need to worry about Halestorm. After supporting Shinedown and a triumphant set at Download and the amazing response to their second cd “A Strange Case Of”the time is right for their first headlining tour.
With sold out notices up and down the country is this the next big thing!!
Over the course of 65 minutes the whole place went mad and sang along to every word.
Here’s what they played
Love Bites (So Do I)
Mz. Hyde
It's Not You
Freak Like Me
Familiar Taste Of Poison
Break In
Innocence
Rock Show
Drum Solo
You Call Me A Bitch Like It's A Bad Thing
Out Ta Get Me (cover)
I Get Off

I Miss The Misery
Here's To Us

Ably backed up by Joe Hottinger on lead guitar,Josh Smith on bass and her brother Arejay on drums all eyes are on the small frame with a guitar at the front.
Lzzy Hale is a star. Her poster will be on every rock fan’s wall.
The girls want to be her and the boys well I’ll leave that up to you to decide.
What a voice and with such a great set of songs superstardom beckons.
Huge choruses, riffs, mad drumming and all the time that voice. She knows when to go full throttle and when she plays a lone keyboard and sings “Break In”we believe every word and every ounce of emotion she puts in it.
Quite incredible.
Arenas and stadiums beckon and we can say we were their at the start.

Only the very un rock n’roll finish at 9.35 was poor but we all needed an early night to recover!!!
