Joanne Shaw Taylor – Burdenell Club Leeds – 26 October 2016
The show tonight was opened up by the very exciting Aarron
Keylock who gave a short blast of his rocking repertoire. A regular change of guitar
did break the flow off the set up, but the songs were all high quality and I’ll
be looking out to see if he is playing in these parts again.
With e release of her excellent CD Joanne Shaw Taylor has
certainly moved up another rung or two on the rock n roll ladder. The show
tonight was reflected that positive step with a confidence that flowed from the
stage from the opening notes of the first song Dyin’ To Know. The Set List was beautifully
constructed opening with some more commercial sounds before drawing the audience
into some “heavier” blues which featured extended solos from Joanne. Throughout
her band gave her the perfect backdrop to weave tapestries of sound with voice
and guitar.
The future has to be bright for Joanne Shaw Taylor and I’m
sure the next tour will be booking into bigger venues.
