Mason Hill World So Wonderful Album Review

Mason Hill's new album "World So Wonderful" will be released on 23rd October on 7Hz Productions and as a long term fan you don't know how good that is to hear.

I won't go into the bands history as it is well documented and the band are probably fed up hearing about it and I just want to thank new vocalist Tom Ward.

His email that Matt Ward read on the second look has saved one of the UK's finest bands from oblivion and the world is a better place for his arrival.

Recorded with producer Dan Weller and World So Wonderful is available for preorder now at the following link

The band Tom Ward on vocals, James Bird lead guitarist ,Marc Montgomery on guitar ,Matt Ward on bass and Craig McFetridge on drums proudly present an album of full of neck breaking riffs and vocal melodies to die for. The more I listen the deeper it hits and more delights it reveals.

After seeing the band live in March when the band introduced Tom to the world on the night we were treated to 6 songs from the new album you could see it's Mason Hill in 2026 and a rebirth.

Heavier with huge crushing guitar riffs and drums and big vocals with melodies interwoven through verses and choruses with a wonderful prodcution that gives everything a chance to be heard and it literally explodes out of the speakers.

The neighbours love it and bang on the wall for me to turn it up !!

Burn It Down starts with a big held guitar riff before the stop start main riff kicks in with Craig's drums loud and driving the song on. Great chorus with Tom's vocal held notes impressing and the mid song breakdown will have heads banging then James short melodic guitar solo fits the song perfectly.

Twisted was the first single and the first introduction to Tom with a crushing guitar riff and drum rhythm starts with Tom's vocal line playing alongside Matt's bass in the verse before a huge chorus with backing vocals added and a great live song for audience participation.
The more I listen to this song it's Mason Hill 2026 the melodies are still there you just have to let the song breathe and wash over you.

Hurricane builds from a slower pace start with Matt's bass and Craig's drum rhythm backing Tom's pained vocal with long held notes. The chorus kicks in and so do the guitars before a light and space interlude which I love because when it kicks back in it feels even heavier.

Tainted Wings has a short stop start guitar riff before the main guitar riff starts. Love the melody in James guitar add libbing and a huge melodic chorus with added backing vocals. James trademark melodic guitar solo fits perfectly and a band workout in the outro ends like all good songs do on the mark.

Stay For A Little While sees Tom showing off his melodic vocal lines over a strummed electric intro before Craig's bass drum starts and the song builds to a big chorus The slowing in pace and the melody in Tom's vocal continues throughout the verse and shows the band's melodic intent is still there just in a different coat.

Resonate is a modern day rock song which explodes in the pre chorus with a touch of growling from Tom before a very melodic chorus. Heads will bang at the main jagged guitar riff and James's guiatr solo has a fuzzed appeal.

Without You is probably the heaviest track yet in the intro. It then drops into a mid paced rocker and then back into the main rhythm in the pre chorus with no let up in the vocal melodies against the heavy back drop. Growls and a downtuned barrage after the second chorus before James fiery melodic guitar solo brings a smile to my face.

Silence will have heads banging from the get go with the guitars stop starting in the verse and Tom's melodic vocal intertwined with a more aggressive approach on some words.

Oxygen's sees melodies over heaviness in the verse and a new way to hit hard in the chorus and Tom showing what a perfect fit he is with a melody infused main chorus line and a live favourite in the making.

Remember has a modern day feel in the stop start guitar melody and Tom's gruff vocal line in the pre chorus before a melodic main chorus over a crushing guitar riff and drum rhythm . More heads to bang in a live setting.

Drag The Chains ends the album with a near 6 minute song that shows Mason Hill at it's finest. More melodic Tom vocals in the intro with a strummed electric guitar backing. Then a huge downtuned guitar riff starts and then quickly the pace eases for more electric strumming.
James's guitar solo is of course melodic and perfectly formed before the outro is all about Tom's vocal held notes and a gentle ending.

World So Wonderful is exactly that Mason Hill are back with a new singer and a new renewed sense of intent full of heavy riffs but make no mistake the melodies are still there just in a new shiny coat.

Welcome back Mason Hill. Superb.
