Def Leppard/Whitesnake/Black Stone Cherry - Sheffield Arena 23rd June 08

Not much to add to the earlier review from Birmingham. I enjoyed Black Stone Cherry and hope to see them again soon. My only concern was the drummer’s over the top antics that got on my nerves after a while.

Whitesnake return to Yorkshire!!! Sound was not that good at the start, DC was on this walk way thing in front of me but his voice appeared to be coming from right at the back of the stage, with a slight, but off putting echo coming from behind me. It did get better but the sound was never as good as for Def Lep. Doug Aldrich was awesome and looked every inch the rock god. (I was never confused).

Someone through DC a box of Yorkshire Tea as a welcome home gift, I’m not sure if
that was staged or not, I’ll give him the benefit and say it wasn’t.

On to the main event. A true home coming for Def Lep, great sound and great visual effects with the video screen. As with the previous entry they opened with a song about their favourite type of lettuce (ed: technically it's a cabbage). For some reason the screens had pictures of space ships on. I didn’t quite follow that. (Joke)

The set include some acoustic stuff, a bit of reminiscing about the old days at Sheffield City Hall, sneaking in to see Budgie and Lynyrd Skynyrd, which lead to a short acoustic burst of Breadfan and Sweat Home Alabama.

Yeah, a great night out.
