Michael Schenker - The Ritz, Manchester

The last time I saw MS was a few years ago with UFO and at that time the gig was somewhat disastrous as we believe MS was suffering from some kind of hang over. However, this was a totally different gig! He was on top form, in fact his performance on a number of Flying Vs was outstanding. The gig opened with the voice of  Captain Kirk as featured on the new Cd Temples of Rock and then ran straight into a Schenker classic Into the Arena , quickly by followed another good old head- banging classic Armed and Ready.  Over the course of the 1 hour 45 min MS dug deep into his extensive back repertoire backed by a very good set of musicians, ranging from UFO, The Michael Schenker group and course the Scorpions. We were treated to only 2 new tracks and the rest of the set kept the crowd on their feet. The only thing that  disturbed me (apart from the rip-off price of drinks at the venue) was that of the vocal of Doogie White, he appeared at times to struggle and then not ,maybe it was me? As the night drew to a close the band stomped  into UFO classic Doctor- Doctor, Lights out and the Scorpions Break Out, by this time we were all fully rocked up!
Great gig and a welcome return of the old master Shanker !!
