Massive Wagons Live At The Great Hall Album Review
Massive Wagons release their new album Live at the Great Hall on 27 March 2026 via Earache Records. So what does it sound like and does it capture that Massive Wagons live show feel?
To this reviewer and fan, Massive Wagons really have captured the excitement and power of their live show with this release. Songs like Back to the Stack, Tokyo and Pressure are a great and allow the band set their stall out in style. Frontman Barry Mills has the crowd eating out of his hands from the very beginning. You can’t help yourself from smiling a bopping around the room as you listen to the interaction between the band and fans.
There is a slight notching down of pace for Missing on TV and Please Stay Calm before the pace picks up again on Fun Whilst it Lasted. This pace continues through to the end of the album with classics like The House of Noise, Bangin’ on your Stereo and Nails.
Live at the Great Hall documents two very special hometown shows recorded on 19 and 20 September 2025 at Lancaster University’s Great Hall, a venue steeped in rock history. After lying dormant for over 40 years, the hall once again came to life, echoing memories of legendary performances by The Who, Black Sabbath and Queen.
Both nights sold out, and the atmosphere was nothing short of electric. The performances were praised by original Great Hall promoter Barry Lucas, author of When Rock Went to College, while Classic Rock Magazine hailed Massive Wagons as “a band stepping up their league.”
The band have managed captured and bottle the humour, heart, and spirit that Massive Wagons brought to these shows. Not an easy thing to do, we can all think of many a great bands who have failed to deliver a great live album. This album offers fans, new and old, the chance to relive those unforgettable nights, or experience them for the first time.
Live at the Great Hall will be available in a selection of exclusive formats.
