After seeing a man with a monkey mask on playing drums at the crossroads outside the tube station on a balmy Thursday evening in Camden heading inside the Black Heart for some acoustic sanity!!!

First up was Kent 4 piece Collateral who's 30 minute 6 song set flew past with Angelo Tristan on vocals and guitar showing a superb vocal range and some great self effacing humour between songs too.

    Their set was the following.

    1) Midnight Queen*

    2) Going With The Wind

    3) Just Waiting For You

    4) Won’t Stop Me Dreaming*

    5) About This Boy*
    6) Merry Go Round*

*Denotes songs from the band’s debut album released in February 2020

Midnight Queen from the 4 Shots ep opened the show and from the audience reaction a fan favourite with it's chorus giving Angelo a chance to shine and Todd Winger also on guitar showing off some excellent backing vocals too.

Jack Bentley Smith on bass and Ben Atkinson sat on a boom box complete the band and with the last 3 songs all from the debut album due early next year all showing huge promise vocally and with huge melodic intent this is one band to keep an eye and ear out for.

They hit the road in September on a co headline tour with Piston at the following dates.

As the voice of Tyketto for the last 28 years Danny Vaughn has enthralled audiences world wide and in the last few years he has also toured extensively with Dan Reed acoustically so with his brand new solo album Myths Legends and Lies recently released to rave reviews we are lucky enough to catch a solo show.

Coming on stage with dimmed lights he asked for the lights to go up as he couldn't see his sheet music precariously perched on a borrowed stand and with over 100 songs prepped and ready it was very much needed.

Anyone who knows Danny will know he has one of rock's greatest voices that shows no sign of losing any of it's power, tone, depth or range.

Opener Walk On Fire from stunning Tyketto's debut back in 1991 was introduced with Danny's acoustic playing prowess evident.Less than a minute in and for the line " The Cat Howls " Danny nailed it with a real growl and I noted this is going to be amazing if he can hit a note like that within a minute of starting.

Is That All There Is? from Soldiers And Sailors On Riverside shows off Danny's storytelling prowess pre song and with his amazing range through his words all meaning so much to so many.

The Last Ride Of The Sunset Man from the new album was warmly received and again Danny's has us eating out of his hand with his charm and also showing superb guitar playing skills too.

In total we get 5 songs from Myths Legends And Lies with all impressing and us stood enthralled as Black Crow,Point The Way,Seven Bells and the single The Shadow Of King John wrapped us up in their conscious and realising that this could be one of Danny's career highlight cd's.

Danny asked the audience for requests and had already got a few pre show and he weaved them all into the 1 hour 45 minute set.

Included was Heaven Tonight from his Waysted days,Battle Lines off Tyketto's Dig In Deep,Badlands Rain from solo album Traveller and even the song at the end of the Sailors cd that appears well after you think it has finished.

Lay Your Body Down was superb and with friend Craig Mcdonald joining him for Burning Down Inside added backing vocals only added extra depth.

Standing Alone as ever had many hairs standing on back's of neck's with a simply stunning vocal that never loses it's meaning to anyone.

One encore of Forever Young that was sung to the rafters by all present and a wonderful eveninmg's entertainment was over.

Myths Legends And Lies needs your attention go and listen to a man at the peak of his power's.
