ANCHOR LANE ANNOUNCE OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR ‘FAME SHAME’ The first single from their forthcoming debut album

UK rock band Anchor Lane unveil the official music video for Fame Shame. The single will be released Friday October 11th and is taken from the band’s eagerly awaited debut album released in January 2020.

Fame Shame is a raucous up-tempo rock track that condemns society’s fascination with technology and social media. The song was written by singer Conor Gaffney, guitarist Lawrence O’ Brien, bass player Matthew Quigley and drummer Scott Hanlon and produced by renowned rock musician, writer and producer Toby Jepson (Wayward Sons, Gun, Little Angels).

“Fame Shame is pure rage about society’s obsession with social media and reality television,” says Anchor Lane’s lead singer and frontman Conor Gaffney.

Adds the band’s drummer Scott Hanlon, “It’s about waking up to the fact that while you’re watching someone else’s life on the internet your own life is passing you by.”

The video was shot in the band’s hometown of Glasgow with director Ross Boag (Biffy Clyro, Twin Atlantic and Fatherson) whose aim was to capture the raw energy of the band’s live performance.

Says Ross, “Anchor Lane are such an exciting and vibrant live band, so I wanted that to translate to the screen.”

“The video captures the dynamics of our intense, no-holds-barred live shows and features some technology destruction scenes that were a lot of fun to film,” says Anchor Lane’s guitarist Lawrence O’Brien.

Producer Toby Jepson said, “When working with a new band the most important thing for me is to get a sense of them as writers and it was clear that there was some intuitive song writing going on. Fame Shame is a perfect example of that.”

“Toby helped us realise the vision that we had for our songs when we were recording the album. Fame Shame brings our fans a first taste of what’s to come,” says bassist Matthew Quigley.

Anchor Lane came to the public’s attention with the release of their EP New Beginning. They toured incessantly scoring notable guest spots with Cheap Trick, Eagles of Death Metal and Tremonti. The band have garnered an impressive reputation as a thrilling and dynamic live act and have notched up appearances at rock festivals including Download, Isle of Wight, Stone Free, Belladrum and Hard Rock Hell.
