This House We Built Get Out Of The Rain Album Review.
I’ve been fortunate enough to see This House We Built a number of times in support slots around West Yorkshire. If I know they are on the bill I make an effort to get to the gig early as they always put on a good show.
The Scarborough rockers release their second full length album on the 21 November 2025. The album opens up with a punchy song called ‘Rain’ which immediately grabs your attention.
Next up is ‘Addiction’ which was the first single from the album. A fantastic rocker of song with a catchy rift and sing along lyrics.
Frontman Scott Wardell explains the concept behind the video for the next track ‘Broken Dreams, which was the third single from the album, it is a great pacey rock song:
“The concept from the video was basically about a man being trapped in an abusive relationship with a woman and struggling to find a way out, eventually breaking free from the chains that hold him and escaping from the wrath of mind bullets and physical abuse.”
Guitarist Andy Jackson, who takes lead vocals on ‘Broken Dreams’, describes the song’s creation:
“I was just noodling away when the main riff came to me, and I thought that’s chunky. I immediately started to record it, so I didn’t forget it and then it just progressed from there with the input from the rest of the lads”.
“Lyrically I always wanted it to be a bit more aggressive sounding than previous songs. With the help of Dave Boothroyd (Producer) and Scott pushing me to give it some beans in the studio I think I hit that goal in the end.

Next up is a track called ‘Desires’ A song with plenty of light & shade and catchy chorus.
Coming Home is the second single from album. The song is about confronting relationship challenges head-on and choosing to rebuild, resolve and come together. A good sentiment indeed. This has more of radio friendly stadium rock feel, get your lighters out for this one. The keyboard ending is a really nice touch.
Back to the heavy rifts with the next track ‘Crash n Burn’ following the creepy fairground music intro.
‘It’s Only Rock n Roll’ has a real classic rock sound, the intro reminded me briefly of AC/DC’s ‘Love Hungry Man’ but the track soon moves into its own direction. Sounds like a potential live sing along to me.
‘Wheels’ is another pacy, punchy rocker before we have a change of pace for the stadium rock style ‘Better Man’.
Some famous lines from the Shawshank Redemption ones up ‘One by One’, another big sounding song.
The album closes with ‘Drifter’, the track opens up as acoustic number before building into a full blown electric rocker.
The production on this album is really good. The album has plenty of light and shade keeping the listener engaged through out. I would highly recommend.
